File Destruction Definition:

The arresting law enforcement agency is asked to destroy your fingerprints and photograph for charges that were dismissed, withdrawn, not guilty and stay of proceedings Only.

File Destruction Benefits:

Your fingerprint history (FPS #) in CPIC will be closed.

File Destruction Limitations:

RCMP Ottawa must approve to remove from CPIC,

Each arresting law enforcement agencies have their own guidelines and time lines which must be met before applying for a file destruction.

Applying for a File Destruction:

1. Hire FPS to handle all documents, provide on-site fingerprint service, and to ensure that your application is done correct. We keep the process of a file destruction simple, fast and convenient for you. We provide a complete service package and usually with 4-8 months* you will receive your file destruction from the arresting law enforcement agency.

Completion Time:

1. Usually 4-8 months, however, *time lines are dependant on eligibility, RCMP, various police stations, court houses, and CPIC officials. Currently, there is a backlog with the RCMP and CPIC officials.
