The EU unveiled the European Travel Information Authorization Method (ETIAS) for granting visa waivers. Canadians do not require a visa to enter the Schengen Zone for leisure travel, but will soon be monitored by the new electronic system for their short stays under 90 days.
The European Travel Visa Waiver will streamline the entry process and enhance security measures, making travel safer and more efficient for all visitors.
The mandatory travel authorization system will conduct security checks on each applicant and maintain records of the data required to determine wither it is safe for travelers to enter Schengen Nations. Schengen Nations include 26 countries. Please visit the ETIAS website for a list of these countries.
If you have a criminal record, you may want to consider applying for a Canada Pardon or Record Suspension to ensure that your application will be approved. Current time lines for a Pardon or Record Suspension are 8 months to 1 year for approval.
